Tomoe-nage (Circle Throw)

A good opportunity for Tomoe-nage is when uke is leaning or moving forward. This can be achieved with a strong Ko-uchi-gari followed by O-uchi-gari combination which forces uke to step back and lean forward. Other than blocking Tomoe-nage before being airborne, it is rather hard to counter in the pure sense. However, a good maneuver to handle a successful attack is to perform a round-off and transition to a hold.
