Princeton Judo Medal Winners - 2010 New Jersey State Senior & Junior Judo Championship
Princeton Judo Continues Its Rise.
The 2010 New Jersey State Senior & Junior Judo Championship was held at the Princeton YWCA and hosted by the Princeton Judo Club. Over 190 participants competed in the annual event March 3, 2010. Participants ranged in age from 5 to 50 and represented 20 Judo schools from around the state.
The Cranford Judo Karate Center brought home the most medals with 20 medals. Rounding out the top club medal winners were Tech Judo of North Bergen with 14 medals and Princeton Judo with 13 medals.
Princeton Judo was led in the gold medal category by returning State Champion Kory Beach in the Boys 15-16 year old Advanced 120lb division and first time gold medal winners Richard Lynch - 9-10 year old Boys Novice Heavyweight division and Marc Diamondstein - Men’s Novice 220lb and over division.
Returning State Champion Michelle Arias also of Princeton Judo competed in a division two weight classes higher than her own and placed second in the Women’s Advanced 125lb division. Michelle had previously gone two years without a defeat. Princeton students also brought home 7 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.
Princeton Judo coach Cory Cuomo feels “proud of the effort that all Judoka who participated gave. Stepping on the mat is a great accomplishment in itself. By placing 13 of 18 qualified competitors Princeton Judo continues to demonstrate growth in both number and quality of competitor.”
Judo is an Olympic sport that can be played by people any age, weight, gender, or strength. The Princeton Judo Club was established in 1994. and currently has male and female members from age 5 - 55 . For more information please visit the Princeton Judo Club web page at www.princetonjudo.com
